PYTHON FOR DATA SCIENCE BOOTCAMP

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Python is becoming more and more popular language of choice for Data Scientists and companies worldwide are using Python to harvest insights from their data. This two-course bootcamp will cover Python language fundamentals, reading and writing data from different sources using Pandas and using matplotlib and Seaborn to create visualizations.

WORKSHOP 1: INTRODUCTION TO PYTHON

DURATION: 6 HOURS

NEXT CLASS TIME: OCTOBER 15, 10 AM TO 4 PM

COST: $100

LOCATION: 3600 136TH PL SE, BELLEVUE, WA

This workshop is aimed at people who are looking to delve into data science using python and also at those who intend to pursue python for their coding tasks. Coding newbies, with little or no programming experience will also benefit from this workshop.

TOPICS INCLUDE

  • Commonly used built-in Python Data Types including Lists, Tuples and Dictionaries.
  • Functions and Loops in Python.
  • Accessing Web Pages using Python Urllib2.
  • Regular Expression in Python

PREREQUISITES

  • Bring your own laptops with Python 3 installed (www.python.org) because we will be writing and running many, many exciting python scripts during this workshop.
  • Make sure that Mac users upgrade your existing Python 2.7 to Python 3.X.
  • Familiarity with programming will certainly help, but is not mandatory because we intend to start at the very beginning!

WORKSHOP 2: PYTHON FOR DATA SCIENCE

DURATION: 4 HOURS

NEXT CLASS TIME: OCTOBER 22, 10 AM TO 2 PM

COST: $150

LOCATION: 3600 136TH PL SE, BELLEVUE, WA

This workshop will focus on pandas, a powerful python dataframe. You will learn to use pandas for reading and writing data from different sources and also for basic data manipulations such as selecting specific rows and columns. We will also cover Matplotlib and Seaborn to create awesome static visualizations of our data. This workshop will have several code drills and will include creating visualizations of sample data. We will also briefly mention the implicit use of Numpy.

TOPICS INCLUDE

  • Pandas
  • Matplotlib
  • Seaborn
  • Implicit Use Of Numpy

PREREQUISITES

  • A basic familiarity with python programming will be helpful but not strictly required.
  • Make sure that you have anaconda installed (https://www.continuum.io/downloads) in your laptop with python 3.x.
